An orange sorta day...

And as the chaos of my current life continues...
I continue to find mindless calm in crumbs...

I am trying to envision a lay out for them...
but pinterest samples aside,
I remain undecided.

So instead...
today,
today was an orange sorta day...

Crumbs & the Olympics of Wedding Planning

It has been a long stormy week with minimal time to myself for quilting...
But, I do try to give myself time to create at least one more crumb block per day. Some days I achieved... some not.
But hey, it is something...

...it was an orange sorta week...

now what???

**********

Today will bring to an end a jam packed 2 week visit for wedding planning and its accompanied commotion... with the olympics playing endlessly on the TV- 24 hours a day!
The highlight for me, was to be included in a day of shopping for wedding gowns!
And while none had the total "IT" factor resulting in a "say yes to the dress", I learned a lot:
-I learned very few wedding dresses are white anymore! (I am kinda on the fence on this one)
-Embellishments are nearly all used to add even more color & bedazzle...
-The top of your budget priced wedding gown, is just a "foundation" to what then receives further added embellishment with belts of every color & style, tulle & bling.
                                     AND
My most favorite discovery for the bride of 2017:
POCKETS!
(Heaven forbid we miss out on those i-Phone selfies!)

In my opinion my future daughter-in-law looked beautiful in nearly every dress. Hopefully, she will find her dream dress soon...

I loved the beading illusions on the back of this one!

This dress has 4 different color layers
allowing this amazing 3d effect!

(my fav)

Also beautiful... and one of the only true white ones we found!

...but in the end...
She did not say yes to the dress...

Checklist Crumbles

I picked up "the newly engaged" from the airport for their week 🏡 home .

Time to work on that wedding planning checklist of the "must do's" that simply "must be" done...

-The "Meet the Parents" dinner...
-The obligatory extended local family gatherings...
-Enduring the engagement photo shoots...

(Oyyyyy)...  Are we having fun yet???

I chose a special place for 🍷🍴 dinner
with a great place for casual pics

He asked... She said yes!
(casual pic from i-phone)

And, they also wanted formal ones. Him being a Musician, they wanted a Grand Piano...

I snuck in for my own reflective pic via iPhone...

Life is chaotic these days & we are all riding a bit of an emotional roller coaster.
(With the Olympics being cheered on as the soundtrack!)

Quilting, as always, is my calm.

But my focus is just not there for a pattern... Crumb quilting is all I really feel like.
Mostly it is mindless... and eventually, (I hope) it will clear out my scrap jars.

growing collection of 6 1/4" square blocks

...my blocks are beginning to look like the makings of a great quilt...
AND
I've decided, once those bits of fabrics I've been hoarding (far too long)- are cut too small to piece elsewhere with a seam... it is time-

Time to take a deep breath... and even if I have been clinging on to it for years...
Time to Let it go.

(... like letting go of those final bits of his childhood I have been clinging to, as I help plan his wedding...)

Now, if I could just empty the trash can...

The Need for SPEEEEEED

My DH waits all year long for the Lamborghini GIRO. It is a week long gathering of Lambo speedsters who gather for a convoy through different parts of the country each summer. This year we explored Utah, Idaho, & Wyoming.

Beautiful... and with amazing sights to see...
experiences to be had...
and stunning views to photograph...

Long winding roads...
Moose & Bulls roadside...
Yellow Stone National Park...

Alas... all are at altitudes that (while he was fueling his need for speed)... I endured the need to breathe.

Since returning 🏡 home... My son flew in :D
for a few days of wedding planning.

And I have finally found a bit of time to sneak off in to my quilting room.

Here is a sneak peak of what I am working on now:
