Wedding Creativity as a Healing Process

They say Recovery is a
"process".
It takes time.
It takes patience.
It takes
everything
you've
got.
The goal is to somehow
grow through what you go through...

**********

Creativity can be a healing process...

My daughter will wed May 26th, 2019.

My life these days demands a lot of focused repetition.
So I decided to put that repeatition to good use...

On pinterest, I discovered the art of book foldingThank you,
https://scrappystickyinkymess.wordpress.com
for being my "occupational therapist".

I hope art quilting & sewing will be in my future again...
But for now... This is my biggest artistic achievement!
My goal was a book a day...
but, it sometimes took days per book...
Each will identify the tables at the wedding for seating
(instead of numbers)...
for our 2 masters of literature graduates.
I am very proud of them both kids.

Here's what I did & what you need:

You need:

Used hard bound thick page books
with at least 50 more pages than you need to fold.

Elastic to hold back your pages-
I used a safety pin to hold it tight.

A good ruler & a bone folder &
a pencil/& sharpener to mark page edges with your pattern.

I decided I liked marking my whole book first...
others prefer marking a few pages at a time...
its personal preference...
I downloaded free patterns off internet
There are plenty (more artistic ones) you can buy as well...
There were free videos I watched on line
to learn techniques as well!

All my downloads were from https://scrappystickyinkymess.wordpress.com

Finding where to start folding was the hardest part & alas-
I have no advice, since sometimes it worked perfect
by starting in center of book
and then dividing- going back by page total...
& other times, I was totally off.
But in the end- I decided not to stress the small stuff.

In the beginning of folding your book-
it won't look like anything but folding pages...

I needed to take a lot of breaks-
either way... get comfortable-
watch reruns- or that series you've mean't to watch...

eventually it will start to look like a letter!

And then- I got brave...
I kept seeing ads for book folded wedding dates
selling for $75-$100...
& I decided to go for it...
OMG- this took several hours each day
 for over a week!

First- I needed to print out number patterns...
& figure out the math...
My husband had to do this for me :(

We found a large print dictionary at the used book store!
& then...
you just start & hope for the best...

I folded 10 pages in to triangles between each number and heart...

Then, after all my downloading
& marking
& folding was done,
a friend called & said:
"are you still folding pages?"
No- I'm done I boasted with pride :D
"Oh- I just found preprinted books for folding."

to best display the design.
