"Cassie the Crazy Crafter"

Meet "Cassie the Crazy Crafter" from

SWEET PEA MACHINE EMBROIDERY DESIGNS

created in the 7x12 ITH design format

on my Bernina 880.

It required 6 hoopings

for the 4 panels & 2 legs.

Alas, my machine crapped out

on panel 4. 😢

and demanded "Spa" time at A Nimble Thimble for a reboot.

2 legs were created in separate hoopings...
    Creating the face...
    Creating Panel 4:
And that is where it all came to an abrupt halt...
    Diagnosis:
"There was a lot of thread caught up in the machine and that silver “spring” in the bobbin basket was not in properly so it would not let the bobbin in its correct position. Just a clean and oil and you are set! The basic adjustments are always included. "
    Katie at ANT
"It had multiple colors all inside the machine. So probably the first thread got broken and then subsequently other colors until it was all in a bind."
    2 weeks later:
    After embroidering out the pieces,
I needed to soak out the fabric stabilizer...
    and then dry overnight
    I created a piece for a title:
I created the strips for her to hang...
Then it was time to sew the pieces together!!!
The legs and skirt were the trickiest part,
    since I had attached separately.
    I sewed slow...
And after pinning backing facing over front,
I slowly focused on bottom first &
making sure bottom & legs did not get caught.
And then I slowly flipped out the side opening
     I had left...  pressed firmly,
and then went back to sew that seam closed
Completed she measures 11 ½” x 35” plus the 5" straps for the hanger I ordered.

    La Passacaglia/Super Nova Update July

I have been English Paper Piecing my La Passacaglia/ Super Nova for several months now... and it is really starting to take on a life of it's own.

Eventually, I decided I had an impressive enough stack to spread things out- and get an idea of where this quilt was headed...

I knew I had completed 3 out of 4 megablocks...
but still didn't grasp how massive it was getting until I tried to lay it out in the living room and had to move furniture!
We may need a bigger bed???
