The Tie Dye Sundress

Today I decided to play 

with some Tie Dye Spray 

on a new white sundress. 

I prewashed, and then I went at it!

Every 40 minutes or so I added the next colors...

After Machine Washing Cold Water:

Monograming a summer "bonnet"

Personalizing a summer bonnet 

on my Bernina 880... 🤣

All was quite simple, 

just a layer of heavy duty stabilizer

 in the hoop... and then I just 

taped the hat down & finger pressed in place.

Unfortunately, 

I pushed my luck when I 

decided to go over it a second time...

Fortunately, it was just a quick needle 

replacement and 

we were back in embroidery mode...

I look forward to wearing it 

this summer with my curls 

bopping about and 

the sun out of my face :D

A Spring Garden Welcome Flag

I embroidered a Flag from 

OESD with the pattern 

 Spring Garden

It was a first time making a flag. It needed a heavy duty needle & stabilizer,

otherwise I just embroidered a bit slower.

I even decided to do the outline 

of welcome in glow in the dark thread!

When I was done, 

I sprayed with fabric seal 

to hopefully prevent fading later.

I stitched the 2 sides of flag together 

once dry, and then my DH hung it 

out front to welcome visitors.

 

QUEEN OF DIAMONDS Month 1

After signing up last spring... 

the deliveries finally started shipping- 

and it was time to begin the 

QUEEN OF DIAMONDS

group EPP sew along 

created by Pink Door Fabrics 

with monthly classes 

shared on line by Tula Pink!!!The on-line chatter in the FB group

 and enthusiastic buildup 

has been quite powerful.

I even "bedazzled" my templates with tape along the edges to help avoid slipping about during rotary cutting the pieces.

I also made "cards" to keep track of my fabrics

And then I stitched...

I Looooove EPP, 

I find it very satisfying watching 

the puzzle pieces and eventual shapes evolve

Next up, I decided to follow TP's lead and add the first border so I could remove the paper pieces. These strips are machine sewn in place...

Woohooo!

And Month 1 is complete!!!

 

Month 6 of Mystery block Ethereal Grove

Month 6 of my Mystery block 

of the month was completed in 3 days 

with no trauma, error, or blood shed!

Wooohooo!

Month 5 “Ethereal Grove”... And a wicked Ouchie

Completed and pinned together Month 5 of Sweet Pea’s Mystery Block “Ethereal Grove”— and FINALLY pinned all current blocks to my design wall. Relieved to have made it through this month’s challenge… I’ll spare all further details of obstacles this month

This is current quilt layout as shared on their website... They update it monthly with the BOM reveals on first Weds of month.

And here is my quilt, 

pinned in place to my design wall.

Thankfully, Month 5 only involved 4 blocks...

4 blocks that would result in outpatient surgery!

Oyyyyyyyy,

It all comes down to trying to hoard and minimize waste of my Tula Pink collection.

All was going well---

and then it wasn't.

My finger got jammed under the needle and it went through my nail and finger.

Ofcourse, once the shock of the pain stabilized---

 I obsessed over fabric damage, 

I mean- we r talking TP!

Then I saw it.

I was missing the tip of the needle and it was nowhere in site.

Now, I knew where all that pain and blood was from.

At first I thought my DH would just tweeze it out.

X-ray ruled that a no go.

So off to hospital. 

(At least there were numbing drugs)... 

and eventually- I was needle free.

Now I just had to not use it for anything... 

at least I had an excuse to give all who deserved it the finger!

Sew, that was nearly a week ago, and I finally am back to sewing.
