Mom's 80th birthday LOVE

My Mom turned 80 on January 20, 2023!
And I was fortunate to fly out there
and spend a week with her...
sharing the celebrations of this milestone.
So, I needed a really special gift!
EmbroideryOnLine and
my Bernina 880 to the rescue!
I created this love pillow
with one of their newest release designs.
Next I created a layout to embroider

the 12 different names of

her children,

her grandchildren,

And her great grand children!
And of course, everyone-

deserved their own font!
I pieced it all together...

and then debated between

wallhanging or pillow.

But- pillow won!
I also tried my hand at card making...

I will def be doing many more of these!!!
She opened it-

and admired the back thankfully!

...ummmmm, Ma
TURN IT OVER...
She was even more impressed

by the front!!!

HAPPY 80TH MOM!!!

Updating my sewing space

Updating my studio space has been in the game plan a long time.

Alas... it is a whole lot more work than I ever anticipated. Each accomplishment finds something new to explore- try to remember-

and then try to find a correct space for.

But... This was my goal as 2023 rolled in.

It was my gift to myself after 3 years covid chaos buildup of clutter and EPP scraps everywhere.

So here we go- From scrapbook-Sewing-crafters chaos... to a Bernina Sewing Studio!

I had to work backwards and start in the closet where a lot of my scrapbook supplies were stored. It was time to break up the "kit boxes" & pack them up for others to eventually use.

Geesh... so Many 14X14" boxes!!! It was insane- but repacking in labeled crates gave me lots of storage space to shift things from my sewing area :)

Next up... It was time to restructure my sewing space. I mainly quilt and embroider these days on my machine. My sewing table needs to be ready for cutting everything from quilt to EPP. And it was time to truly organize fabric by something other than "colorish"...

I emptied every drawer and shelf... only things I am actually likely to use remain in the studio. Rest were either shifted to closet or bid goodbye.

I reorganized my sewing room metal wall to be more functional to hold the things I needed to find most...

primarily my embroidery hoops for my Bernina 880, my favorite rulers, & TP limited editions that just make me gleeful.

The rest of the rulers are hanging on the steel mount on the other side of the door...

On the day I was nearly finished organizing how I wanted things hanging on "that wall"- a late Christmas gift arrived from my kids.

OMG- I couldn't believe they ordered me such a fun light for my tiny space! But it sure looks snazzy!!!

And it makes one heck of a nightlight!!!
I also ordered new flannel to cover my design wall.
I know it won't look like this for long... but- since I emptied out every drawer and shelf... I was able to reorganize and label all the cabinetry and storage spots.

Yesterday, I started on fabric. The chat boards keep talking about shifting the stacks upright and using a plastic clip over the comic book board. But would it really save space and allow me to truly see what I have available better?

I shifted my Tula Pink fat quarters and layer cakes to left side of cutting table. (So- they had to stay stacked...) BUT-

This is 3 shelves worth of fabric wrapped and placed upright. I am truly stunned how much less space is used after I shifted shelf spacing a bit!

So, I decided I might as well rewrap all of it tighter and place upright. Needless to say- to be continued.
