A bionic shoulder, a dream space, and a cricut...

It is 12 weeks since the implantation of my new left shoulder. I am yet to feel bionic... but I did graduate  home PT today and will begin the next stage of rehab next week at the rehab hospital...

My new sewing space is stunning and I am 2/3 through the Bernina 990 workshop. I am yet to enjoy sewing on my new machine...

But the space is a dream and I am making progress towards creating on it.

What I am doing- is mastering the Cricut Joy Xtra that I purchased for myself as a pre holiday gift.

I thought I'd make a few gift cards

and maybe a mug or 2...

but I am stunned by the possibilities of paper slicing and actually having fun glueing and pasting.

In any case, it is easy on my shoulder and allows me to feel like I am able to be creative, so for that reason alone- I consider it a win!

Whilst I did relocate all the furnishings from my old sewing space... IKEA deliveries fill most of the space that is not officially merchandise from Bernina.

Cricut Joy Xtra
After this project I was hooked!!!
The swimmer will be for my SIL...
And then came the holiday mugs....
mugs,
and mugs,

Awaiting more supplies!

#ABIGDAY and my first project (preop)

After many months of waiting, my B990 finally made its way to our house!
I couldn't wait to get it set up
in my current sewing space...
Alas, it arrived only days before
I was scheduled for my
Total Left Shoulder Replacement Surgery...
I found a wonderful video share
on line with full video
instruction for how to make
"ACL Shoulder Surgery How to make a sling for support of shoulder or
arm after reconstructive surgery"
I started by quilting to fat quarters of TP fabric
Then I traced the shape of a
purchased sling to create a pattern.
I added an iPhone sized pocket
& sewed a binding all the way around the outer edge.
Next up was adding ribbon
to 4 corners to hold straps
I cut up a shoelace and
sewed it around the ribbons.
But then...

Next up would be the straps.
Alas, that's also when I had
my first thread battle...
My machine was now
officially christened.
After much patience---
I eventually got the nest cleaned out.
I had to sew the velcro on
VERY SLOWLY...
the needle and thread dogs hated it.
And then it was finally complete!
Surgery is tomorrow...
And I will be in the mega brace several weeks.
But this gives me something
personal to look forward to.
It will be quite a while before
I get to sew again...
or finish setting up my new sewing space.
But when I am back...
it will be the new bionic me :D

The magic, the Aurora Borialis, and THE WAIT...

The wait is on!!!!
My 990 is on ordered...
We formed online FB groups
to make the unveiling bearable...
and eventually were treated to
a surprise welcome package by Bernina!
I officially have a number

and
eventually
(After repeated phonically and pleading e-mails)
I even got a certificate
in my name!!!

Framed and ready for
my new sewing space!
That's right...
this machine needs a new home-
because the new sewing table size
she requires as her home will not
fit in my current one!!!

Just look at this girl!!!
So the decision to relocate took over the wait game...

After much debate, I decided on taking over the formal living room... and the overwhelming task of shifting it from a once active music space that layed out the groundwork for our son's future success---
to what would hopefully become an inspiring space for mine.
inner ring is my current embroidery table!
outer is the new one!big size diff!
I'll leave it here for now...

I even managed to knock out a project of the month challenge to distract myself...
It was a 2 day ITH embroidery challenge, and it helped distract me a lot as I packed up my beloved 880+ to get her ready for her new owner as part of the trade in for my new 990.
